Jaryd Farcon

Teacher

Jaryd Farcon, a native of Fords, New Jersey, is a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator who has been dancing since the age of three. He is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and earned his BFA, magna cum laude, from the Ailey/Fordham program. As a competitive ballroom dancer, Jaryd has placed 1st in the WDSF Under 21 Latin Championship at the USA Dance National Championships, 2nd Place at the 2012 Junior II US National Amateur Danceport Championships in Provo, Utah, 1st Place at the 2010 Ohio Star Ball Junior I Latin Championships, and 1st Place at the 2010 Embassy Ball Dancesport Junior I Championships. He has represented Team USA at the Blackpool Dance Festival in Blackpool, England, reaching the Top 21 in the world. 


Jaryd’s performance credits include appearances on Season 6 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, Season 14 of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, Good Morning America, The Today Show and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He served as dance captain for the Knicks City Kids and the Lil' Torches dance teams, both of which perform at Madison Square Garden. He has also worked with Julie Taymor on A Midsummer Night's Dream at A Theatre for a New Audience and appeared as a featured dancer in the Broadway Votes music video “Carrying the Banner,” directed by Kenny Ortega and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo.


A distinguished artist, Jaryd was named a 2016 National YoungArts Foundation Winner in Dance (Jazz), which gave him the opportunity to work with Mikhail Baryshnikov. He has performed works by Jennifer Archibald and Maleek Washington in A Few Words: A Dance Cycle at A.C.T. of Connecticut, led by Daniel Levine and Sara Brians. Additional highlights include performing for YouTube NewFronts, appearing in the opening number “Magic to Do / Bye Bye Blackbird” at the Chita Rivera Awards with The Verdon Fosse Legacy, and collaborating with Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, the Tony-nominated choreographer of Six: The Musical. He also appeared in BTS’s “Permission to Dance” music video at the United Nations General Assembly.


As a choreographer, Jaryd has created work for the Steps Conservatory, the Dumbo Dance Festival, Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, and singer LaLa’s music video “Love Letters From My Ex.” In honing his craft, he has trained in prestigious summer programs at Alvin Ailey, Jacob’s Pillow (Contemporary), Orsolina28 (Nunes/FLOCK Creation Program), Alonzo King LINES Ballet, and Ballet Hispánico’s ChoreoLab. He has performed both domestically and internationally with Ailey II, Ballet Hispánico’s second company, BHdos, and Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company.


Currently, Jaryd is on faculty at Steps on Broadway, a company member with The New Jack Cole Dancers and is so grateful to be a part of the DNA Dance Academy Team.
